The saga continues
The story continues for Sonny/Soon-Hee. How deep will the rabbit hole go?
In A Pinch| A Gambit In High Heels
“Could you bring me my cup of tea?” Soon-Hee’s sing-song plea sent the pacing Kevin scurrying out of the bedroom. While he was nice enough to not complain, his impatient wandering between rooms was obvious. She was seriously considering making her room a “girls only” space if he didn’t behave himself. Soon-Hee resumed her makeup, carefully applying the creamy color to her lips. She couldn’t help but notice how full they seemed. . . spongy and supple. As she painted her face, Kevin reappeared, cup in hand. “Thank you. Remind me to thank your mother tonight for this new batch of tea blend. It’s absolutely delicious!” She was currently on a three cup a day habit and showed no signs of slowing down. Kevin simply rolled his eyes at his roommate, noting the lipstick stain on the edge of the mug.
“You don’t find it odd that we are spending MORE time around my mother and father?” He asked his friend. She arched an eyebrow at him as she brushed a bit of mascara on her lashes, her expression nonchalant. The invitations for dinner with Kevin’s parents had become more frequent in the past two months. Lots of practice being Soon-Hee. Everything was becoming easier. Soon-Hee was becoming more real. Live in the moment - make it real.
“It just means your parents approve of your choice in women,” Soon-Hee told him. “It also means I’m a convincing girlfriend.” Perhaps it SHOULD bother her more - but it didn’t. The added ruse of Soon-Hee’s masquerade provided a unique thrill to her. Masking what was beneath the nylons and cosmetics, immersing herself in the diversion that was Soon-Hee. Dressing as a woman had always been part of her life but this had awakened some hidden desire she wasn’t sure about. . . but knew she wasn’t ready to end.
“A little too convincing sometimes.” Kevin huffed. Soon-Hee squinted her eyes at Kevin, giving him a mischievous smile. He may not have meant it as such, but she took it as a compliment. “I can’t get over how well you do this . . .”
“It’s all part of the charade. It’s a fun little game I like to play in heels.”
“I can’t believe this is all a game to you. This is my livelihood we are dealing with. What if they find out?” Soon-Hee turned around to look at him this time, her manicured hands in her lap.
“If you’re so worried about it, we can always quit. You can tell your parents we broke up. Then we don’t have to pretend anymore.” Pretend. That’s all it was, right? All she was doing was responding to the situation. Kevin was the leading man and she was the female lead. When he puts his arms around her, she instinctively moved in to snuggle closer. It’s what a girl would do in a movie, so she should do it in front of Mirim and Roland. Kevin’s parents seemed to respond so well to their affectionate interplay.
“If I told my parents I broke up with you I believe my mother would cut me off,” She smirked at Kevin’s words.
“Mirim loves me.”
“Oh indeed she does. I get no less than four text messages a day reminding me to look out for you. All kinds of suggestions of places to take you and things to buy you. Do you know she’s thinking of asking you to go on the family vacation this year??” Kevin threw up his hands while he resumed his pacing, yet he only took a few steps. Soon-Hee felt his eyes on her as she worked the final kinks out of her hair. “How are you so good at all of this anyway? I mean. . .”
“You mean what?” He was silent for a moment, eyes roaming around the room before he finally spoke. She thought it was cute how nervous he got when he had something on his mind.
“I mean. . . you. . . actually . . . look good.”
“Really? What was that, Kevie?” she placed her hand next to her ear and leaned in.
“I said you look good alright! I mean you look better than good. . . stunning even. . . you’d have to be to fool my mom. She has NEVER liked any girl I’ve brought home.” Soon-Hee could see the faintest tone of crimson in Kevin's cheeks as he spoke. She found it positively endearing.
“Well, I’m glad my efforts are appreciated. And to answer your other question, it’s a lot of work to look this good.” Her fingers slid over her stockings, checking for snags or runs. “A little bit of tape, a little bit of glue. . . some help from a corset along with a few secrets and surprises.” Surprises. Soon-Hee had recently had a few of those. Her skin was softer than it had ever been - amazingly sensitive. She had always been methodic in her skin care rituals but this was unprecedented. Compared to a few months ago, she was positively radiant. For some reason, it was easier to squeeze into the tighter skirts and dresses Soon-Hee was accustomed too. It usually took a little help from a waist cincher but tonight she slid into her outfit with ease. It didn’t even take much padding. She tried not to think too much about it - she was too busy thinking about her upcoming “performance.”
Tonight, the role of Kevin’s girlfriend, Soon-Hee, will be played by his roommate, Sonny.
With one last look in the mirror, Soon-Hee pronounced herself ready and picked up her purse. She turned to her date, giving him a pose. “Is it too much?” Kevin’s delayed response provided a miniscule seed of doubt in her heart, but his smile was all the confirmation she needed.
“You look every bit the lady you appear to be.” She shivered at Kevin’s compliment, a manicured hand going to her breasts as her heart warmed. He offered his arm, getting into his role as the considerate boyfriend. She wrapped her arm around his bicep with a wry grin playing across her pink lips.
“Lead the way, good sir.” She spoke with more honey in her tone than she intended. But that was what she was supposed to be; the loving girlfriend. The script would say Soon-Hee would be charmed by Kevin so that was how she should act, right?
It was only a game after all.
